A wolf’s paw is so large it is larger than a human’s palm. If you’ve ever made a fist and pressed it into the snow to make a wolf’s (or dog’s) paw, even a large male’s hand will not be large enough. However, the large paws serve another purpose; they’re large enough so that wolves can step in snow without sinking completely, which helps them hunt, run, and play without injury, even in the snowiest winters.
